Murungi is the 7th of 8 children, living with his mother and father. His mother and father cultivate a 1.5 acre garden plot, to help provide food and income for the family. Murungi has a younger brother, Natujuna, born in July 2024, with heart complications and clubbed feet. This has placed an additional burden on a family already struggling economically, and they really appreciate that Murungi can be helped with his education. Amari will also assist in getting Natujuna down to Kampala for assessment for his medical condition(s).
