Winnie is the second of four children. She lives with her father and 2 of her siblings. Her father is also caring for other children and families. Her father worked as a medical assistant and contributed towards his children’s school fees and other costs, but has been unable to do so this year as he suffered a stroke in January.  Winnie’s mother (separated from her father) helps provide food for the children by cultivating a rented ½ acre of land. Winnie’s family is grateful for educational assistance, especially given her father is medically incapacitated, and Uganda doesn’t provide welfare support for such.
